How Should I Prepare for a Transmission Repair

If you're considering transmission repair, there are a few things you should know. Here's what you need to do before your mechanic arrives for manual transmission repair:

1) Check the fluid level.

Make sure the transmission fluid is at the correct level and doesn't look cloudy or brown. If it's low, your mechanic may need to add fluid.

2) Check the spark plugs.

Remove the spark plugs and check for fouling or misfires. If there are any problems, your mechanic may need to replace the spark plugs or the coil pack.

3) Check the air filters.

Remove the air filters and inspect them for damage or debris. If they're dirty, your mechanic may need to replace them.

4) Check the hoses.

Make sure all hoses are properly attached and flowing freely. If they're not, your mechanic may need to replace them.

5) Check the caulk or sealant.

If the water is pooling around your car, there may be a leak in the body where you parked it. If this is the case, your mechanic may need to repair or replace one of these areas.

6) Inspect your back brakes and shoes.

Your mechanic will check them for proper wear and if they're leaking. If so, he may need to replace them.

7) Inspect the hoses for leaks.

Check for coolant leaks and brake fluid leaks. If either is leaking, your mechanic will have to fix them before he can continue working on your vehicle.
